Puppies Replacing Children

Let’s begin with statistics. In Japan, there are actually more dogs than children who are aged 10 and below. There is also more demand for dog products, such as food, toys, clothing, and accessories. In fact, you can easily assume that dogs consume more food than Japanese children. Something else to keep your eyes out for are what we call dog parents. These are couples who treat their pets as their own child, showering them with gifts, a good home, and even insurance policies.

In the United States, there are more than 1 million dogs that are added to the last will and testament of rich people. Moreover, a study revealed that U.S. consumers buy more varieties dog food than baby food. There are also more people who have photos of their pets in their wallets or in their living rooms than of their next of kin, even their spouses.

So we ask the question, are puppies slowly replacing children?

Why There Are More Couples Who Are Buying Puppies than Making Children

Whether you like it or not, more women are having children at a later age, yet decide to adopt a puppy while still in their prime. One could simply say that perhaps having a child requires more work and is more demanding than feeding a pet. Nevertheless, one doesn’t need to be a genius to realize that animals share many human like qualities. In order for them to live well, they don’t only have to be fed, but should be showered with sufficient attention, affection and care.

Perhaps the following benefits would help us understand why:

1. Pets tend to bring couples together. In recent reports, dogs help lower divorce rates, as these animals help improve their relationship with each other. There’s still the pressure of being a parent to your pooch, but, hey, no one gets to be grumpy in the morning because the baby has been crying the entire night. Another bonus is the lack of pressure to save for your baby’s college fund, obedience class will do! Another important factor is general living costs, dogs certainly cost a lot less to rear than real children.

2. They can remove loneliness. Dogs are perfect for couples who are still trying to have kids. Puppies are so energetic and entertaining that they easily take your mind off thinking about your current situation. Same goes for the elderly, perhaps they had children once, but now they have families of their own. There’s nothing like a happy little dog to brighten a day of the elderly.

3. No Pregnancy. Females are not forced to carry a baby for nine months, go into labor, and spend sleepless nights. With puppies, she can skip all that and be the mummy that she wants to be, showering her beloved pooch with as much love and care that she would give to a real baby.

Despite the benefits, though, you have to keep in mind that there’s no feeling quite like having a child of your own.
